About this event

Esteemed colleagues: The Technical Committee is excited to bring to you our “in-person only” upcoming class in December. This intermediate/advanced level, 3-day, HEC-HMS class taught by WEST Consultants will be held at the Flood Control District of Maricopa County, Monday through Wednesday, December 8-10, 2025. This new class will build on working knowledge of HEC-HMS and will expand your command and confidence in the software. Attendees will learn how to transition from HEC-1 to HEC-HMS, apply some of the more advanced features of HEC-HMS for computing rainfall-runoff magnitudes, inspect model results, address common errors, and extract model data and results for documentation.  Throughout the instructional process, participants will see and work with “real world” examples exploring different processes, workflows, and results using different modeling methods.  This will include discussions, supported by workshop examples, on the differences between traditional lumped parameter, gridded, and 2D modeling approaches.  Participants will learn all the steps in developing a watershed model and will be able to immediately apply this knowledge on their own. Participants will need to bring their own computer with the software pre-installed, the class will be capped at 30 people, and the fee will be $875 (we have not raised rates since before 2013 and need to cover the presentation of the new topics and catering). Continental breakfast and lunch will be served. If this class sells out and enough individuals are interested, we will consider holding the class again in the spring, possibly in Tucson or Flagstaff. We hope you or your staff join us for this long-awaited opportunity!
