LID at Franciscan Renewal Center 

AFMA is hosting a free site visit to the Franciscan Renewal Center to see, discuss and test the PaveDrain system installed about 5 years ago. In addition, we will arrange for a 1,000 gallon water truck to put the PaveDrain system to the test.

Formed in 1982, AFMA is a non-commercial, not for profit organization that provides local representation on a state-wide basis on floodplain management issues within Arizona. AFMA is a state chapter of the Association of State Floodplain Managers, providing members with a conduit to national level training, publications, and policy issues impacting the profession. The Association provides an educational forum for technical and regulatory training and discussion relative to management of Arizona’s floodplains. The Association cooperates with other agencies with similar interests including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) and the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) and the Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM).

Interested in becoming a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)? 

The role of the nation’s floodplain managers is expanding due to increases in disaster losses, the emphasis on mitigation to alleviate the cycle of damage-rebuild-damage, and a recognized need for professionals to adequately address these issues. This certification program lays the foundation for ensuring that highly qualified individuals are available to meet the challenge of breaking the damage/rebuild cycle on the nation’s human, financial and natural resources.
