Committees

These are the committees defined within Arizona Floodplain Management Association. Click the view members link or the committee name to see a list of committee members. The nine-member Board conducts the business of the Association. All positions are elected by the membership to two-year terms.
The nine-member elected Board plus appointed Committee Chairs. Exists as a convenient grouping for email purposes.
Corporate Primary Members
CPMs can add or delete members for their agencies, and may have permission to register their fellow employees for membership and AFMA events. Exists primarily as a convenient grouping for email purposes.
Education & Public Involvement
This Committee works on varied education and communication projects within the floodplain management community, including the scholarship fund drive, CFM training and testing, and the AFMA Library at Gateway Community College.
Flood Warning and Emergency Response
The Flood Warning Committee works within the Arizona flood warning community to promote improved flood detection, planning, message dissemination and response, and flood exercises.
Legislative Issues
The mission of the Legislative Issues Committee is to assess and communicate legislative matters in an effort to educate and activate our membership to participate in public policy decision making concerning floodplain management.
Newsletter
The Newsletter Committee compiles, produces and distributes the Association's biannual news letter.
Programs & Policies
The mission of the P&P Committee is to develop the agendas for the P&P Breakout Sessions at AFMA Conferences and to make recommendations to the Board related to floodplain management policy issues. In addition, we strive to provide high quality, low cost education opportunities to the AFMA membership in the form of short-courses and field trips.
River Management & Restoration
As the name implies, the goal of this Committee is to support programs and training that foster positive river management and restoration policy.
Technical
The mission of the Technical Committee is to develop the agendas for the Technical Breakout Sessions at AFMA Conferences and to make policy recommendations to the Board related to floodplain management technical issues. In addition, we strive to provide high quality, low cost technical education opportunities to the AFMA membership in the form of technical short-courses and field trips.
Webmaster & Membership
This committee is responsible for the Association website, maintaining the AFMA membership database, and setup and operation of Audio-Visual equipment at AFMA events.
